“This is the first time the rear has been seen uncovered. A temporary makeshift bumper looks to have been grafted on to the rear, so we’ll have to patiently wait to take a peak at final styling changes,” adds WCF. Its front end remains the same.

The site goes on to remind us that this auto maker isn’t very well known for design changes. Look at the Porsche 911 – it’s hardly changed its design in decades!

Porsche is teaming up with video game series Need For Speed to offer one fan a brand new Porsche vehicle. One lucky contestant, who can apply at the official Need For Speed: The Run website, will receive a 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S.

You don’t even need to buy or pre-order the video game. Participants simply register at the game’s site. Need for Speed: The Run goes on sale November 15th. The series is produced by Electronic Arts.

FYI: This blogger already entered the contest, so you better click the link above to get in on this amazing Porsche giveaway! I remember playing the original N4S on my Playstation One. I would drive the pixelated Porsche Carrera around fake red wood trees or the desert tracks, unlocking new vehicles with every victory. The latest game in this hit series features a slew of realistic looking models for you to race and wreck.

The 2012 Porsche 911 – also known as the 991 Carrera model – has been officially unveiled by the Germany luxury car maker. Available soon at various dealers, including New York and Los Angeles Porsche stores, the 911 / 991 wheelbase has been stretched 3.9 inches longer than it’s predecessor.

Riding atop 20 inch wheels, Carrera comes with a body made of aluminum-steel “for reduced weight and greater rigidity.” Under that car’s rear hood, power comes from a 3.4 liter boxer engine, producing 345 bhp for the standard Carrera, and a 3.8 liter, 394 bhp producing powerplant for the Carrera S. Prices in the US for these models are $82,100 and $96,400 respectively.

According to official stats: Carrera S does 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds – 4.1 with the Sport Plus function in the optional Sport Chrono package. Other goodies available are the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), available for the first time on the Carrera S, providing optimized cornering with “intelligent distribution of lateral forces.”

It’s official, the new 550 Spyder will be a “revival” of Porsche’s open-top 2-seater, and may even replace the current Boxster. CEO Matthias Mueller told a foreign newspaper the German auto maker is “mulling a revival of the classic 550 Spyder.” He added the 2-seat racer could very well be less expensive than the current Boxster model. This goes in line with previous news that Porsche is looking to produce a less-expensive line of cars, in order to attract a wider audience.

“I can imagine that such a modern version of the famous ‘James Dean’ Porsche would be well-received by our customers,” said Mueller in a story published last Thursday.

The car is rumored to be scheduled for launch in 2014, and would come equipped with a rear-mounted turbocharged 1.6 liter engine, capable of producing 197 bhp. The starting price for this new entry-level Porsche will around $8,000 less than the Boxster.

It looks like those crafty spy photogs at Edmunds Inside Line have caught the 2014 model Porsche Cayman testing “at a secret location.”

The car looks as sexy as ever, with an angled rear hatch and sporty front end. The big news, however, is Porsche’s powertrain planned for Cayman.

According to Inside Line: Not even Porsche can escape the growing trend of fuel economy, and they’re switching to a smaller, forced induction powerplant for the Cayman; likely a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder that is reported to push out over 360 horsepower.
