Porsche continues to meet and exceed the quality demands of consumers in its largest export market, the United States. Porsche recorded the top ranking of all brands surveyed in the 2008 J.D. Power and Associates “Initial Quality Study SM”. This makes it three consecutive years that the Porsche brand had the fewest problems per 100 vehicles in this prestigious brand ranking. The scores were based on interviews of 81,500 new car owners from across the country.Incredibly, not only did the Porsche brand come out on top, but the legendary Porsche 911 has the highest initial quality of any vehicle in the study. According to J.D. Power and Associates, the Porsche 911 has the fewest quality problems in the industry, with just 67 problems per 100 vehicles.

Every year, J.D. Power and Associates assesses the level of satisfaction among buyers of new cars after the first 90 days of vehicle ownership. On this basis, a customer is asked to fill out a survey containing 228 criteria regarding quality and workmanship.

We have known for a long time that the 9ff engineers intended for their GT9 to take the world record for the fastest production car in the world, now the German tuners are claiming they have achieved the feat with a run of 409 km/h at a track in Papenburg on 10th April.
But after searching through our record books and more specifically the current world record speed set by the SSC Ultimate Aero that stands at 255.83mph which translates to 411.71km/h meaning this claim can be thrown out the window. As a consolation 9ff can be happy in the knowledge that they did at least beat the Bugatti Veyron which previously held the record at 407km/h, however one question comes to mind – why did it take so long for 9ff to make an announcement?

The GT9 is loosely based on the Porsche 911 GT3 but that is about as far as the similarities go as it is shares just 2% of its components. The GT9 is both lower and longer and you will find the engine in the middle of the car rather than at the rear for better weight distribution.

Power comes courtesy of a quite insane 987bhp 4 litre flat six twin turbo engine mated to a six-speed transmission. Despite the heavy power behind this machine, the statistics aren’t quite as impressive with 0-60mph standing at 4.2 seconds – 1.7 seconds slower than the veyron.
